A recent study suggests that exposure to per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances or PFAS, known as ‘forever chemicals,’ may accelerate the progression of colorectal cancer (CRC) cells.
The research analyzed exposure levels comparable to those found in firefighters who frequently come into contact with PFAS-containing firefighting foam. Firefighters with higher PFAS blood levels are more prone to CRC. Lab experiments demonstrated that PFAS exposure induced CRC cells to increase mobility, indicating a potential role in cancer metastasis.
The findings emphasize the need for further clinical studies and highlight the potential risks of PFAS exposure, providing crucial information for those in high-exposure occupations and underscoring the importance of safeguarding against these ‘forever chemicals.’
PFAS (forever chemicals) are everywhere, literally. Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances like PFOS, PFOA & PFNA are increasingly being linked to many serious medical & mental conditions. Here is the info you need about what they are, where they come from (you won’t believe this part), and what you can do to minimize your exposure to these worrisome forever chemicals. Dupont & 3M (both owned by Vanguard Group) have known the dangers of these chemicals for decades (see article below). You CANNOT avoid these chemicals, but you can minimize your exposure..

Researchers have made a breakthrough in how to eliminate the dangerous artificial chemicals that are all around us. Known as forever chemicals, they’ve been nearly impossible to break down and destroy — until now. Darius Mahdavi talks about what needs to happen next.

We can’t see it but there’s a silent killer lurking in our homes. An invisible danger that is found in things we use every day – forever chemicals.
As the name implies, the cancer-causing agents are doing lasting damage to our health and the environment.
Ottawa is now looking at limiting or banning these chemicals and as Brittney Rosen reports, experts say it can’t come soon enough.

PFAS chemicals are used in thousands of products aimed at making life easier. But the chemicals are now almost everywhere, including in human blood, and are being linked to severe health problems.
Correction Note: At 37:45, this video incorrectly identifies the year Minnesota’s ban on PFAS in food packaging will begin. The ban takes effect in 2024.

North Carolina’s Cape Fear River is a massive water system. It stretches across the lower half of the state, collecting runoff from 29 counties and providing water to millions of people. But in the city of Wilmington, where the river meets the Atlantic Ocean, the water has residents worried.
In a 2019 test of tap water, Wilmington and neighboring Brunswick county were among the top five areas for high levels of PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances — a group of man-made chemicals commonly used for making nonstick or water-resistant products. Now North Carolina is reckoning with the legacy of pollution upstream — and discovering what decades of PFAS contamination means for the rest of the country.
